Species native to Japan which is characterized by early flowering. Also known more commonly as the Japanese apple tree, it is a 4-8 meter tall shrub, with medium-sized, oval-shaped, bright green leaves. Usually these apple trees have a dense and round foliage, which in the period from March to June, is filled with many star-shaped flowers that have five petals and are gathered in red, white or pink corymbs. The expansion is greater than 9 meters. The red fruits are not edible.
Pedoclimatic needs
Chalky, greasy, sandy and clayey soils are suitable. Remarkable results can only be achieved by respecting all the plant's needs, especially regarding soil humidity. Soil can have a pH: acidic, alkaline and neutral. The position in relation to the light can be in full sun, partial shade, shade. Malus floribunda has excellent rusticity. In winter it resists temperatures between -19 and -14°.Botanical Information
