Descriptions Genus of about 35 species of deciduous trees and shrubs from the woods of Europe, Asia and North America. Malus hupehensis is a small deciduous tree up to 6-8m tall, with an erect and spreading habit. The alternate leaves are oval, dark green in color with a serrated edge, while when they are young they have a beautiful burgundy red colour. In spring the plant produces numerous white five-petalled flowers with yellow stamens that open from pink buds. The fruits are small apples which take on a beautiful intense red color in autumn which give this tree a very decorative appearance.
