Shrub or small evergreen tree up to 5-7 meters tall with an erect habit and compact foliage. It has greyish bark and alternate, simple, shiny lanceolate leaves with serrated edges. The characteristic and attractiveness of this cultivar is the color of the new leaves and shoots, which in spring are bright red. At the end of spring, pleasant apical inflorescences consisting of small cream-white flowers appear.

Pedoclimatic needs

It adapts to any type of soil as long as it is fresh and well-drained. It resists heat well and prefers exposure in full sun or partial shade. It resists wind and is very rustic, resisting temperatures up to -16°/-18°C, as long as they are not too persistent. Due to the beauty of the foliage and its resistance it is ideal for all steps. Very suitable for the creation of both free and topiary hedges, it can also be used in association with other bushes to create splashes of colour. It is currently also being used in parks and gardens as a sapling, in rows or as single plants. Also suitable for growing in pots on terraces and balconies.
