Genus of 30-40 species of evergreen, monoecious arboreal conifers of the forests of the cold-temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere. Picea pungens glauca is a medium-sized tree, up to 12-20 meters tall. The foliage is pyramidal with branches spreading horizontally from the base. The leaves are needle-like, thin, bluish grey, rigid and attached individually to the branches.
Pedoclimatic needs
It adapts to all types of soil, preferring poor and sandy ones, preferably not calcareous or chalky. It likes exposure in full sun or partial shade. Rustic plant, it resists minimum temperatures reaching -30°c. This fir differs from others for its splendid blue-toned color, which makes it perfect as an ornamental plant for parks and gardens.Botanical Information
