Medium-sized deciduous tree, up to 15-20 meters tall, but which can also take on a shrubby appearance while maintaining smaller dimensions, around 5-7 meters. It has an irregular globose crown, ascending branches, smooth bark in young specimens and wrinkled in older ones. The leaves are alternate, with a serrated edge, bright green in color. The flowers are small, creamy white in color and are gathered in sparse inflorescences. The fruit, a small ovoid brown berry, is edible and has a creamy, sweet and aromatic pulp.
Pedoclimatic requirements
It adapts to all types of soil, preferring calcareous and well-drained ones. It likes exposure to full sun or partial shade. A rustic plant, it tolerates minimum temperatures reaching -10°/-15°C.
