Plant Description
Genus of about 150 species of deciduous or evergreen trees and shrubs of Europe, Africa and northern Asia and North and Central America. Acer platanoides is a deciduous tree with an irregular spreading crown, reaching 15-20 meters in height. The trunk is slender and straight, while the leaves, light green, are palmate with five shallow and toothed lobes. In autumn the leaves take on beautiful shades ranging from yellow to orange. It is a melliferous species characterized by a yellow-green flowering. The fruits are dark yellow disamaras with divergent wings up to 5 cm long.
Pedoclimatic requirements
Maples are suitable for any type of garden depending on the species and size. It adapts to all types of soil, preferring fresh and well-drained soil. It prefers exposure to full sun or partial shade. A rustic species, it tolerates minimum temperatures reaching -20°/-25°C.
