Plant Description
Genus of over 150 species of shrubs or small deciduous trees native to Asia and America. Callicarpa bodinieri is a deciduous shrub native to China up to 2/3 m tall with open and branched foliage. The lanceolate leaves, which are elongated and dark green in color, take on a beautiful reddish color in autumn before falling. Peculiarities of this species are the small purple fruits gathered in apical infructescences.
Pedoclimatic needs
It adapts to any type of soil, preferring loose, well-drained soil with a good organic substance content. It prefers a sunny or partial shade exposure. Rustic plant resists even persistent frosts down to -12°/-14°c. Species for cool and humid climates that cannot tolerate drought; during the dry season water regularly.
