Fruit tree, cultivated mainly in North America for the harvesting of its fruit, the pecan nut, reaches 20-25 m, but can also reach 40 m, with a trunk circumference of 6 meters. The leaves are 35 to 60 cm long; the fruits are drupes and have an elongated cylindrical shape, its flavor resembles that of a walnut. The fruit is harvested in October-November.

Pedoclimatic needs

Due to its natural beauty and excellent productivity, the pecan nut is also excellent for growing at home. It is in fact a shade tree, of high ornamental value. During the winter dormancy period it resists the cold well, even at temperatures below -10 C°. To avoid breakage of the upper branches it is advisable to choose places well exposed to the sun, but at the same time sheltered from the winds. It prefers fertile soil with good water drainage.
