Descrizione Pianta

Altezza della pianta: 20-50cm
Genus of approximately 400 species of deciduous and evergreen trees, shrubs and climbers of the woods of tropical and subtropical regions, particularly in Africa and Asia. The clerodendrum trichotomum is a shrub or small deciduous tree up to 3 meters tall, with entire dark green leaves with serrated margins, up to 10-12cm long. It produces delicately scented white inflorescences from August to September. The flowers are followed in autumn by very decorative metallic blue berries. The berries, persistent from October to February, are placed on a purple-red star.

Pedoclimatic needs

It adapts to any type of soil, except those that are too heavy and calcareous. To be grown in a sunny or partial shade position. Non-rustic species, it resists short frosts down to -5°/-7°c. This species does not tolerate drought well and must be watered regularly during the dry season. Ideal for creating free hedges, patches or as an isolated specimen. Little used, the clerodendron deserves greater use in parks and gardens.
