Altezza della pianta: Alveolo medio: 15-20, alveolo grande:40-60cm

Genus of about 45 species of shrubs and small trees mainly deciduous, originating from the northern temperate regions. Cornus sanguinea is a deciduous shrub, vigorous and spreading, very branched, with elliptical, light green leaves, which become reddish in autumn. In spring, after the leaves appear, it produces creamy white flowers in small umbrella-shaped inflorescences. The small and spherical fruits, black when ripe, are edible when ripe. It can reach 3-5 m in height. The characteristic and attractiveness of this species is the color of the bark which, as the Botanical name of the species recalls, is blood red and particularly evident during the winter when the plant is bare.

Pedoclimatic requirements

Grow in fresh, well-drained, neutral to acid soil, in the sun and partial shade. Rustic species tolerates low temperatures up to -15°-/18°C.
