Plant Description

Genus of about 65 species of deciduous trees, rarely evergreen, usually found in the woods of Europe, Asia and North America. Fraxinus excelsior is a vigorous, spreading deciduous tree with smooth bark and showy black buds in winter. The pinnate, dark green leaves, up to 30 cm long, with 9-11 or 13 leaflets that turn yellow in autumn. It can reach 25-30 m in height.

Pedoclimatic needs

It adapts to any type of soil, even clayey, as long as it is fresh and humid. It is a species that sometimes grows near river courses and in fact also resists temporary water stagnation during the winter. This ash tree prefers full sun or partial shade exposures.
