Plant Description
Genus of about 14 species of deciduous trees, usually thorny, of forested areas of North America, South Africa and tropical Asia. Gleditsia triacanthos var. inermis is a medium-large deciduous tree, up to 20-25 meters tall with expanded foliage. The trunk is very branched and lacks the characteristic thorns of Gleditsia triacanthos. The leaves are compound pinnate and the late spring inflorescences have small light green flowers. The fruit is a large pod with an elongated shape that is black when ripe.
Pedoclimatic needs
Grow in any fertile, well-drained soil in full sun. Rustic species, it resists cold and even intense and prolonged frosts down to -20°/-25°C.
