Genus of 50 species of deciduous, semi-persistent or evergreen trees and shrubs, present in the woods of Europe, Africa, the Himalayas, Asia and Australia. Ligustrum japonicum is a shrub or small evergreen tree up to 6-8 meters high and about 3-4 meters wide, with a well-branched stem from the base. It has leathery, shiny dark green leaves and small flowers collected in pleasantly scented cream-white inflorescences. The fruits are numerous and purplish-blue in color.
Pedoclimatic needs
It adapts to all types of soil, preferring fresh, fertile and well-drained ones. Prefers exposure in full sun or partial shade. Very rustic species, it tolerates minimum temperatures reaching -10°/-15°C.
