Descriptions Genus of a single species of trees, from the valley forests of central China. It is a large deciduous conifer that can reach 30-35 meters in height. The crown is pyramidal in shape, with opposite needle-like leaves of bright green color that become brown in autumn. In spring it produces male cones gathered in long spikes and cylindrical globose female cones. Erroneously considered extinct, some specimens were found in the mid-forties in some remote Chinese regions.

Pedoclimatic requirements

It adapts to any type of soil, preferring well-drained ones, but it can also be grown in very humid ones and near rivers. It prefers exposure to full sun and possibly sheltered. When dormant the plant is rustic, tolerating temperatures that reach -20°/-25°c, but fears early autumn frosts or late spring frosts.
