Altezza della pianta: 20-30cm

Genus of about 300 species of deciduous trees and shrubs, generally dioecious, present in a variety of habitats ranging from meadows, river banks, sand dunes to hills throughout the world, with the exception of Australia. Salix caprea is a shrub or small deciduous tree up to 10 m tall. Elliptical leaves with serrated edges. Smooth greenish bark in young branches, then fissured and gray in mature branches. The flowers appear in early spring, before the leaves appear. The male flowers called kittens are characteristic silvery balls, used as cut fronds for floral decorations.

Pedoclimatic needs

A rustic plant, it is found mainly in the hills and mountains, but is also common in the plains (up to -20°/-25°C). It prefers all types of soil, as long as it is fresh and moist, even if it tolerates modest aridity.
