Descrizione Pianta

Altezza della pianta: 30-60cm
Deciduous shrub up to 3-4 m tall, erect and very branched. The green cylindrical stems suberify only in the basal part of mature plants. The small leaves are sessile, lanceolate and fall early with the arrival of the dry season. In late spring, numerous very fragrant golden yellow flowers appear at the tips of the stems. The fruits are small legumes dehiscent when ripe. The sweet broom is a characteristic element of the Mediterranean scrub. It is a rapidly growing colonizing species, capable of thriving in the most hostile environments.

Pedoclimatic needs

It prefers arid, sandy or clayey soils, however not humid and without stagnation. Rustic species, it resists cold and frost down to -10°/-15°C. It is also very resistant to drought, heat, wind and salt and is successfully used in the environmental redevelopment of degraded habitats. It also has a robust root system that grows in depth and is therefore also frequently used for the stabilization of slopes and embankments. Due to the beauty of the flowering and the magnificent fragrance of the flowers it is ideal for all parks and gardens without water.
