Altezza della pianta: 70-90cm
Large marsh conifer that can reach 35-40 m in height. The erect, conical trunk has a wider base and a thick reddish-brown bark. The foliage is pyramidal and composed of linear and flattened light green leaves which in the autumn season, before falling, take on a magnificent golden and reddish colour. Male and female flowers grow in distinct inflorescences on the same plant. The female strobili (pine cones) have a globular shape and a woody consistency and release the seeds when ripe. In conditions of high humidity the roots develop the characteristic pneumatophores.
Pedoclimatic needs
It adapts to any type of soil, even asphyxiated and marshy, preferring those with a good organic substance content. It prefers an exposure in full sun or partial shade. Rustic species, it resists cold and frost down to -10°/-15°C. Fears strong winds.
