Palm A Compact habit and limited growth, it reaches a maximum of 12 m in height. Trachycarpus wagnerianus features a single trunk 20-25cm in diameter typically covered in a brown fiber incredibly similar to gauze. With age the trunk can lose its fibers at the base and appear bare and smooth. Unlike T. fortunei, the leaves of this species are particularly rigid, compact, with a short petiole. In spring, panicle-shaped inflorescences consisting of numerous yellow flowers appear in the axils of the leaves. The fruits are small purple dates.
Pedoclimatic needs
The Wagner palm grows well in fertile, well-drained soil, but also adapts to moderately heavy soils, except those that are too asphyxiated. The species grows well in partial shade or sun. This palm is very rustic and is one of the most resistant to cold down to -12°/-15°C. It cannot tolerate drought and must be watered regularly during the dry season.
